Anti-Child Labour Workshop

On the 1st May,  Labour Day,  the Social Welfare Department ran a program in in our Child Development Centre along with children from two Children’s Homes in our local area. Members of the committee presented awareness on the important subject of Child Labour.  Through this program the children discussed and received teaching on what is Child Labour, What is Physical Abuse and Domestic Violence, What is good touch and bad touch.

During the Presentation the children viewed a short film, which depicted the story of a little girl who was sent to the city as a domestic child worker and was abused in that situation.  After watching this moving film the Children and Staff discussed the issues this child faced and what sadly many children in India face.  The children were reminded that they have a right to be safe both now and throughout their lives.

To further reinforce the teaching about Child Safety the children participated in a Game Show talking about the roles of a Trusted Voice in their life.  All the children and staff enjoyed the program and were blessed with gifts from Samaritan’s Purse and a nutritious meal of rice, Egg Curry and Salad.
